The Autonomous University of Lisbon is an institution of higher education Private legally recognized by the Ministry of Education as an institution of public interest. The Autonomous Region was established by the Cooperative Education University (CEU) on December 13, 1985, which is responsible for economic and financial management of the University as a center of creation, transmission, and dissemination of culture, science and technology. She is now a flexible structure that allows you to rationalize at every moment, the organizational structure most appropriate for the harmony between the various academic bodies. As mentor of this cultural project, the CEU has been relentless in creating mechanisms to design the research as a methodological process privileged source of knowledge, developing a model of teaching and learning and participatory spirit generator reflexive, acting firmly in the field of post -degrees, through activities or the acquisition of degrees, both in obtaining skills for the workplace. The Autonomous University press internally to ensure pluralism and the clash of ideas, developing their own culture by opening the alumni and the community of devices aimed at training, or activities undertaken by the Study Centres, with the aim of narrowing the ways of the relationship between the University and the institutional and business worlds. University has a group of professors with recognized academic and professional competence, continuing - among other ways - the advanced training of doctoral and masters students, under the Education Development Programme for Portugal (Prodep II ). UAL also has a wide range of support services in the educational and pedagogical sphere, as well as in terms of support services, including: access to food in canteens and bars, CRD, supporting literature and data processing, reduction or exemption of tuition, school insurance, allocation of scholarships, internships and support for career management or sports and cultural activities.
Location: The Palace of the Counts of Redondo is a magnificent building, the scene of numerous historical facts. Located at Rua de Santa Marta, is one of the most important examples of architecture from the sixteenth century manor Lisbon. The building received a facelift almost complete throughout the history of the University, with clear improvements in terms of functionality, but always respecting its original design. Here are the classrooms to support undergraduate courses taught and the Centers for Calculation of Computing and Consultation Database, Main Library, the University Bookstore and Publisher, Medical Screening Center, the Auditorium, the Refectory and Bar and also the headquarters of the various Student Organizations. On the building front are domiciled the Rectory, the Administration, the Administrative Services and Academic Departments, Study Centers, Institutes and Courses Graduate, Masters and PhD.
