Lenoir-Rhyne is a co-educational, private liberal arts institution founded in 1891. It is located in Hickory, North Carolina, a town of 37,000 in the western part of the state.

By combining the liberal arts with professional studies, Lenoir-Rhyne offers a rich foundation in the arts, humanities, social sciences, language, religion, and natural sciences -- as well as the specific skills to live a purposeful life. Lenoir-Rhyne enrolls over 1,600 students from across the country and around the world.


All international applicants must submit the following:

* Completed application and nonrefundable $35 fee
* Original transcripts and (or) high school records (college/university if transferring) translated into English. Transferring students MUST have transcripts evaluated and translated into English.
* TOEFL, SAT or ACT (TOEFL score can be recorded on transcripts)
* Completed Certificate of Financial Responsibility certified by a bank official, attorney or notary public verifying your statements.


Financing your education at Lenoir-Rhyne College can be accomplished in several different ways. Most students from abroad (and the US) pay a large percentage of college costs from personal funds and supplement additional expenses with money earned from employment or from loans and scholarships.

At Lenoir-Rhyne College most available scholarships, grants and loans are restricted to US citizens, but there is some financial aid which is unrestricted. Financial aid packages for international students would consist of a scholarship or grant and part-time campus employment as available. These scholarships and grants are very competitive. Students need to demonstrate that they have a

* strong academic record at the secondary school level
* TOEFL score meets Lenoir-Rhyne College standards (550) and
* all relevant application forms are submitted in a timely manner (preferably before November 1)
