Dana's outstanding academic programs in business, education and social work, among others, ensure that students have the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to pursue challenging careers or placement in graduate school.
Students also gain valuable career and personal experience through Dana's Discovery Term, an intensive three-week program of internships, study abroad, community service, or other special projects related to their interests and goals.
To help students take charge of their future, outstanding Career Services, begin right from the time students arrive on campus. Through interview preparation, resume writing, skill development, internships, and career identification and placement students get a jump on an exciting job and career. And the College's proximity to Omaha — recently named one of America's most livable cities — gives students easy access to the professional, cultural and social opportunities this friendly Midwestern city offers.

About Our Location
It's the best of both big and small.
A growing community of nearly 8,000 residents, Blair, is only 20 minutes north of Omaha, located on a plateau overlooking the Missouri River Valley. The local economy is a mix of industry, agriculture, and technology, and Blair is a major regional center for green business, with companies like Novozymes and Northstar Wind Towers choosing to locate here. Our students find ample opportunities to work and volunteer in the community's schools, hospital, and business district.
Nearby metropolitan Omaha is also an excellent source of internships and job opportunities. For those interested in big business, Omaha is home to five Fortune 500 companies and dozens of other national and international firms. It's a major regional cultural and entertainment center, as well, with touring Broadway shows, live music events, top attractions, galleries, and museums. Plus, Omaha gives you endless opportunities for dining out, shopping, sporting events, and more.
Dana's Misison
The mission of Dana College under its Articles of Incorporation is the establishment and maintenance of an institution of learning of collegiate rank, in which higher education shall be given in harmony with the Christian faith as taught by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
History
The Danish Evangelical Lutheran Association in America (or Blair Church) was formed in 1884 by a group of Danish members who left the Conference of the Norwegian-Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Many of Blair Church pastors were supportive of the Inner Mission.
The Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church in North America (or North Church) was formed in 1894 when seminary professor P.S. Vig, along with a number of pastor and congregations, left the Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church in America over theological differences.
In 1896, two small groups of Danish Lutherans in America – known as the Blair Church and the North Church – came together to form the United Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church (commonly known as the United Church). This church body was a part of the Danish Lutheran "Inner Mission" movement, and strongly opposed the influence of the ideas of theologian N.F.S. Grundvig.
Led by P.S. Vig and C.X. Hansen, one of the United Church's first priorities was to establish an educational system. The Dana School, in Blair, Nebraska, was begun as preparatory school. By the early 1910s – in cooperation with the University of Nebraska – the Dana School was awarding Associates Degrees. In the 1930s Dana became an accredited four-year school, and began awarding Bachelors Degrees.
