Indiana University Bloomington is the flagship campus of the Indiana University system. Time magazine named Indiana University Bloomington its "2001 College of the Year" among all the major research universities in the country. It was founded in 1820 as the "State Seminary" and after a few name changes, it was finally renamed Indiana University in 1838. The campus covers 1,933 acres of land. IU is divided into the following academic divisions:
