Founded in 1881, Concordia College is a four-year, co-educational liberal arts college located in suburban Westchester County, New York. The College is an institution of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and, while the campus has a distinctly Christian atmosphere, students from all faiths are welcome.
At Concordia College you can choose from academic programs such as Biology, Business, Education, English, Liberal Studies, Social Sciences, and Social Work. They also offer Pre-Professional Studies—Pre-Deaconess, Pre-Law, Pre-Med, Pre-Seminary, and Pre-Vet, an honors program known as The Fellows, Lutheran Teachers Diploma, and Concordia Connection.
The College also offers Adult Education Accelerated Degree Programs for adult students who are working and a full-scale English as a Second Language (ESL) program. The average student-faculty ratio is 16-to-1. Over 75 percent of the professors have the highest degrees in their fields.
Concordia provides every year over $8.25 million in financial aid. More than 95 percent of Concordia students receive some form of financial assistance.
Each year Concordia College admits only a few outstanding students to the Fellows (Honors) Program. Separate application to the Fellows Program is required. To apply, you have to have a minimum 1800 SAT(all 3 parts)/27 and if accepted you receive $15,000.
Other Types of Assistance
* Scholarships — This is basically free money, administered by Concordia as well as by outside sources, usually based on academic achievements and/or special talents (e.g., athletic, academic, etc.)
* Grants — This is more free money, administered by sources usually outside Concordia, and is typically based on financial need (although, for example, the Lutheran High School Grant is based on attendance at a Lutheran high school)
* Student Loans — Need-based, student loans must be repaid, but not until after you graduate
* Student Employment — Flexible jobs on campus that can help cover a portion of your education costs |
