Descrizione dell'università (origine: sito web ufficiale dell'università)

Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD), one of the largest and oldest private art colleges in the United States. Recognized as a leader in visual arts education and as a resource for artists and the community, CCAD advances a distinct learning culture by blending a tradition of professionalism and a commitment to quality with a solid education in the fundamentals of art and the humanities.

More than 1,300 students from 40 states and 30 foreign countries are enrolled in the four-year program of study, pursuing the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in one or more of seven majors: Advertising and Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Fine Arts (including painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, and glassblowing), Illustration, Industrial Design, Interior Design, and Media Studies (including photography, digital imaging, video and film, storyboard and computer animation, and photo illustration). In addition to major areas of concentration, it offers specialized courses of study in animation, art therapy, computer graphics, fashion illustration, product design, package design, and photography.

Liberal arts courses are a large and vital part of the curriculum. They provide historical perspectives and rich cultural contexts for studio classes.

International students

CCAD is strongly committed to cultural diversity and dedicated to enrolling talented art students from around the world. In keeping with our goal of creating a global campus, CCAD is proud to offer scholarships to outstanding international students. In addition, CCAD assists these students with cultural adjustments and offers advice on U.S. Government regulations relating to their international status.

Students representing more than 30 countries from Asia, Africa, Europe, North and South America, and the Indian subcontinent bring important artistic, cultural, and intellectual dimensions to life at CCAD.

Scholarship opportunities

CCAD is pleased to award talent- and need-based scholarships to high school seniors (and to high school graduates and transfer students in some cases). It may be possible for a student to be awarded more than one scholarship. In most cases, a student may accept only one scholarship
Scholarship recipients

Recipients of CCAD scholarships take part in the Creative Community Corps (C3) of Volunteers:

* Students are required to complete 10 hours of volunteer service each term (for a total of 80 volunteer hours before graduation).
* Projects students have completed include designing and building a castle for the children at a public library, creating logo designs for nonprofit organizations, and work with Habitat for Humanity.
* Many students volunteer as Hometown Ambassadors, returning to their high schools with information about CCAD and examples of their work, and providing assistance to their high school art teachers.

If a student elects not to participate in the program, they refund 10 percent of the scholarship award for that term to the college for the general scholarship fund.
