BURLINGTON COUNTY COLLEGE FOUNDATION
SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTION
SCHOLARSHIP NAME: Beverly Rotary Club/Dr. Harold J. Winkelspecht Memorial Scholarship
PURPOSE: This scholarship, established by the Beverly Rotary club in honor of the memory of Dr. Harold J. Winkelspecht, lifelong resident of Burlington County and active member
of the Beverly Rotary club for 47 years, is designed to encourage students to pursue an education and subsequent career in Nursing or the Sciences.
SOURCE OF FUNDING: Beverly Rotary Club
AMOUNT AND BASIS OF FUNDING: The Harold J. Winkelspecht Endowment fund. The Endowment fund will fund one $500 scholarship per year providing that the principal in the endowment fund does not fall below $9,000.00
AMOUNT OF AWARD: $500 per year ($250 for the Fall semester and $250 for the Spring semester)
NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIPS: One per year
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
o Must be a current resident of Burlington County.
o Must be in good academic standing if a current or former BCC student.
o Must be enrolled as a full-time student at Burlington County College in an Educational program consistent with that described in the Purpose section.
o Must have achieved a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 in high school and any college courses previously taken at any institution (must provide official transcripts demonstrating such G.P.A. in order to receive initial scholarship award).
o Must maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 at Burlington County College in order to continue scholarship.
o Must indicate a commitment to pursue a career in Nursing or Science as specified in the Purpose Section of this scholarship description.
o The names and home addresses of selected recipients will be submitted to the Beverly Rotary Club so that they may be invited to a meeting of the organization.
o Must submit an essay of 250-500 words with scholarship application describing academic goals which she/he intends to pursue while enrolled at Burlington County College as well
as career aspirations in the field of Nursing or the Sciences.
METHOD OF SELECTION: BCC Scholarship Selection Committee with final approval of recipients by the Beverly Rotary Club. In general, the Rotary Club prefers to make the final selection of the recipient based upon a review of the applications of the top three applicants recommended by the BCC Scholarship Selection Committee with the possibility of personal interviews with one or more of the top applicants. At the discretion of the club, a member of the Beverly rotary club may attend the portion of each Scholarship Selection Committee Meeting at which applications for this scholarship are considered.
